Of course I know - we all do - that all breasts are different. While I loved the act of breastfeeding - the empowerment, the bonding, the ritual - I didn’t like its effect on my breasts. After breastfeeding two babies (one for 13 months), it’s fair to say all the life has been sucked out of them. They were perky enough, suited my frame and didn’t get in the way when I was working out. Before I had kids I didn’t really give them much thought. Looking at some of the images on Laura’s website, it struck me how harsh I am on my own breasts. Today the project culminates in the release of a book and the launch of an exhibition - ‘ Bare Reality: 100 women, their breasts, their stories.’

The breasts of 100 women, all shapes and sizes, all with their own stories. So for two years she photographed breasts. She is helping her sisters author a book entitled 'Hey, Remember That Summer We Had Cancer' that discusses the role of humor and family in times of crises.Laura Dodsworth wanted to show what breasts really look like and tell their stories. In August 2012, after principle photography of the film, both of Kristyn's sister's were pronounced cancer free. In this case, Kristyn hopes that this film, and the feature she is working on about BRCA2, will help women with histories of breast and ovarian cancer learn that there are new advances in prevention technology. The dedication to making this a strong and powerful movie increased a thousandfold, and Kristyn became very clearly aware that her goal as a filmmaker is to make films that use humor to spread serious and important messages and information that can do good for the world in some way. In June of 2012, a tumor was discovered on her sister's ovary that turned out to be cancer ten days later her other sister was diagnosed with breast cancer.
